Solar system Orrery with 8 planets

We are only a very small living beings in a huge universe. We live in a small planet called Earth in a group of 8 planets called Solar System, with our star in the center, the Sun.

Note: nowadays Pluto is not considered a planet.

All planets turn around the Sun at their specific period. In this LEGO version the relative orbital period accuracy between planets is over 98%.

It is powered by a PF XL motor and a PF Lithium battery.

I hope you like this "different" MOC.

  6. This is exactly what I had in mind for years. I neither had the time nor the skills to realize such a beautiful thing. Excellent job I am ready to pay for instruction.

    Keep up the good work

  8. This is just fantastic. I would love to see the gearing in more detail. How long does it take for Neptune to make an orbit?

  9. I use a lithium battery to control the speed. The gear reduction between the XL motor and Neptune is 3472.22:1, with light load like here XL motor turns more or less at 140rpm(9v)... thats it almost 25 minutes to do a complete orbit.

  10. All may family loves your LEGO-art. This Orrey is so fantastic that some teachers in our sons' school would like to build it for the studens. Dear Sheepo, we would like to have some building instructions if possible. You would make many children happy with that! Please, cotact me! Thank You!

  11. Hi, I am sorry but I can not do instructions, the orrery is more complex than it looks, and it is very hard to build even for experimented builders.

  12. I've recently taken on a similar project and appreciate the complexity of your design; it's the only one I've found online with eight planets. If you plan on revisiting it, you may be able to simplify it with part #6151167.

  13. HI, I can use that part but the orrery would be huge. The diameter of that part is something like 4 times bigger.
