After a long wait, finally the Land-rover Defender instructions are now available!!!
If you want to learn more about thie creation, please click here
Finally the Defender has 3442(+3 extra) parts including controller(!!)
The instructions are made in PDF format, and they have 448 pages(96 MB).
To view and check the complete part list go to rebricable.com
The instructions cost is only 20€
Please, before purchase the instructions read this!
- If you buy the instructions, YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO:
* RESALE IT
* SHARE WITH ANYBODY
* MAKE ANY TYPE OF BUSINESS WITH ITS INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, Like sell the car built, or rent the car to other people.
- The price is in euros(€). But if your currecy is different don't worry: paypal do the exchange directly to euros from your local currency($, £, ¥...) for you. Also under special request I can accept a different way to pay the instructions.
- If you don't receive your instructions after 48 hours of the payment, please check your spam folder, and if the email is not there please send me an email to: info @ sheepo.es. I always send the instrutions quickly(usually within 24 hours), but sometimes the email never arrives to the destiny.(internet errors, spam filters, etc)
- The instructions will be send(actually a link to download it) to the payment email adress. If you want, I'll send you the instructions to a different email adress, please leave a comment in the paypal payment.
- For MAC users: mac can't open zip files with password, to open the instructions you will need an extra software (you will can find a lot of free software in internet to do it).
- Build this car is very hard, if you have never built a Lego Technic set, I recommend you to do it first. Doing that is not necessary but it will help you later when you built the Land-Rover
- I forgot add and advice in the page 172 about how to put correctly the parts. here you can see how to put it: the Axle Connector Smooth has two rounded sides and two flat sides. It is very important that the internal pins of the Driving Ring (6539) coincide with the flat faces of the axle connector
- I forgot too add a clutch's support in the instructions(the necessary parts are in the part list, this doesn't change)
To build it follow this pictures just after the page 154
- The instructions has been tested by a Lego Technic expert builders, if you can't built the car and you think the instructions are wrong, check your built twice before ask me.
- If you have problems with the gearbox try this. You can try two different solutions for this problem:
1 - Check the change levers(which connect the slider to the red ring) searching parts with too friction. Carefully move the levers sideways to get some extra space and also reduce friction. If this solution doesn't work try the second one.
2 - Add a third rubber band in the slider (page 228) to get some extra force in the change levers
Also you must think that the pieces are not perfect, so the gearbox are not 100% reliable, it should make good around the 90% of the speed changes
- There is a little mistake in the instructions in the IR receivers order, this is the correct order:
Behind the driver(in the right of the car) receiver in channel #2 with its wires. Range gearbox and 2dw/4wd selector.
In the center, receiver #1, Drive and brakes (it is well placed in the instructions)
In the left receiver #3, Main gearbox and steering
Finally to buy the instructions go to INSTRUCTIONS PAGE
Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the best site to buy the parts? -> www.bricklink.com
- What happens if I lose my instructions copy(hard drive failure or virus)? -> I have a data base with all costumers of my instructions, if you lose it you can email me and will send it to you again free.
- There is any Lego Technic set which I can buy to reduce the parts cost? -> No, but you can buy the Technic set 8110 (Unimog). With it you can't reduce the parts cost(of course you still need many spare parts), but after building the car, you stay a few hundred parts for you.
Payment done! Waiting instructions...
ReplyDelete:)
What will come next? Supercar... :)
Thanks sheepo!!!
ReplyDeleteGood job! Sheepo!!
ReplyDeleteThat instructions look very good, as oficial ones

ReplyDeleteJust received your instructions, Fantastic! I'm gathering kits/parts right now (that's half the fun) Looking forward to begin building........
ReplyDeleteFantastic model! When this will be available at rebricable.com? I want to know how many parts i need to build this.
ReplyDeletePayment done!
ReplyDeleteThanks sheepo!!!
Gracias Fernando, que emoción poder hacer uno de tus modelos....
ReplyDeleteJuan Valderrama.
the parts need information in Rebrickable.com is exact correct? thank you.
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous, February, 2013 at 6:30 AM,
ReplyDeleteOhhh come on, that's not expensive. €20 for something Sheepo probably have used morethan 100 of hours on. That's not what I call expensive. The set contains more than 3400 parts and it takes very long time to make such a big instruction!
Is it possible for me to look at the parts list before buying the instruction? Btw the price (20 euro) is totally worth it!
ReplyDeleteYou must read the complete entry ;)
ReplyDeleteIncredible sheepo. Well done! I hope to see it at nortebrick!
ReplyDeleteHello Sheepo!!! Please tell me how I can order all the parts for Lego Land Rover Defender 110 in Russia and how much they should cost?
ReplyDeleteThe First Technic UCS instructions are available. Nothing better than one of Sheepo's great MOCS
ReplyDeleteThanks Sheepo for this dream car in LEGO :)
Are you going to make the instructions for the porsche 911?
ReplyDeleteSheepo, is there an estimation, how much are all the parts required to build this car? I am real fan of the defenders and this is the best model I have ever seen.
ReplyDeleteHi Sheepo
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to getting the instructions - Keep up the good work
Thanks!! fixed.
ReplyDeleteALso I have add and advice to built correctly the gearbox.
Sheepo,
ReplyDeleteYou and Jurgen made my day.
You won't see me here for a while.................. I've a Defender to build.
Thanks,
Kees.
Will buy soon. Definately worth the price, even in Canadian $! I would also buy other instructions...(hint hint)
ReplyDeleteToo expensive 20 Euro? But I hope you're kidding! With all the work behind it, technology, engineering solutions totally unknown to the Lego and attention to detail.
ReplyDeleteCome on ...
How much are the complete parts at bricklink?
ReplyDeleteTHX
just in time for March 2013 :)
ReplyDeleteFor anyone interested I have ordered all the parts (or close enoughs) and it was about $700 AUD (that includes shipping from 7 stores). Obviously all the electric items are relatively expensive and you could save quite a lot using what you already have.

ReplyDeleteHola Sheepo. Soy Vi en HispaLUG y acabo de pagar las instrucciones, pero en el mensaje de PayPal no me ha cabido todo lo que quería escribirte. Además de pedirte disculpas por la falta de espacios en aquel mensaje, sólo añadir a lo que ya te puse, que por favor sigas desarrollando maravillas como las hasta ahora vistas y que no dejes de pasarte por allí de vez en cuando. Un saludo;
ReplyDeleteHi, i'll buy your model from Lego CUUSOO when it will be available, but at the moment i don't know the price; can you answer at my question please? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteFrancesco
P.S. Compliments for your MOC (Defender) it's very very nice! i'm sorry for my english.
Hi Sheepo,
ReplyDeletei am about to buy your instruction and would like to get an idea of the parts costs. Do you have any idea how much I would spent on it?
Thank you in advance,
Jelte
You can see by yourself downloading the part list and check it in bricklink.com
ReplyDeleteSheepo please reply! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Francesco
I don't know the final price for the cuusoo model, even I don't know if Lego finally will made it as a Lego Official set, because if a model in cuusoo get the 10000 vote Lego can decide if they will made it or not.
ReplyDeleteok, thank you and compliments for your mocs. I wish they will produce your set ;) .
ReplyDeleteBye!
Francesco.
How can I see the total price of the partslist on Bricklink.com?
ReplyDeleteYour creations are really impressive!
Gr
Dennis
You should add all parts to your wanted list and sort the stores that contain the parts, but the total part cost if you don't have any part is around 600€
ReplyDeleteare we goeing to hear something new about the MPS or is that a closed chapter ??
ReplyDeleteI've just finished building the body (wanted to see how large this MOC is)
ReplyDeleteWell.........it's large!! The assembly went together really well, did't have any problems. I had to 'back-track' twice to fix small assembly issues I missed in the details.
Thanks Sheepo for sharing this great creation of yours. I feel very lucky to build this MOC.
On tuesday I finished my Deefender and It's the best moc I've ever built.
ReplyDeleteThank You for the instructions
Can you put free instructions for the gearbox please
ReplyDeleteThe secuential mechanism are integrated in the chassis, so for publish the complete gearbox I need to publish the whole chassis and will not do that...
ReplyDeleteHave ordered all the parts to build the 110.
ReplyDeleteNow just have to wait until all has arrived.
Unfortunatly will probably take a while.
Oh well, at least got the orders done.
I really do not want to add up the final cost as I think it will scare me a tad.
Anyway looking forward to starting construction of the Defender.
Jamie (another crazy Australia)
Hello, can you also send the digital files to my email ? SR 3d ?
ReplyDeletePayment done! Waiting instructions !
Keep up the good work !
I am sorry but I don't share itthe digital files with anybody
ReplyDeletethanks Sheepo this is a very nice build and with a few tweaks it works perfectly!!!
ReplyDeleteSheepo, I orderd the parts are started building the Land Rover. I think on the part list one of the part might be missing. There is a Yellow coloured long pin with friction ridges and stop bush that is shown on your build, but is missing in the parts list. I just thought of brining it to your attention.
ReplyDeletePayment sent.. Awesome enigering. Best regards Johan /SWE
ReplyDeleteI know this fail in the instructions, sorry ;( , but if to look the read pins you can see the quantity of it is same that the red pins more the yellow ones in the instructions. You only must use red pins and you shouln't have problems.
ReplyDeleteSheepo No worries on the missing Yellow pin. Everything on the build is going great so far. Thank you for publshing the instructions. Cant wait to complete the build and take the land rover for a spin. You are an awsome lego designer !
ReplyDeleteSheepo: On page 369 Step 48 the round black piece is not on the part list. What does that part do ? Can I ignore step 48 ? Is it a decorative piece. JV
ReplyDeleteHi and sorry for this mistake, I updated the part list some weeks ago, but you still have the old one :(, this brack brick round 2x2 is only the fuel tank door, it is no t necessary to fonish the car, it is only decorative.
ReplyDeleteI have a little trouble understanding how your transmission works. Should the transmission be in " neutral" when the whole chassis is assembled? Sometimes reverse 'locks-up' the transmission, am I doing anything wrong on the controller or did I make a mistake in the whole assembly?
ReplyDeleteThis is the best MOC I've ever built, but the transmission puzzles me some.
The transmission is very complex, and some times is difficult set it correctly... if you have problems with the gearbox please follow the tips I wrote on the "Buy now" botton. The gearbox doesn't have neutral position. But if you want "to push" the car you can put the trasfer case in neutral.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sheepo,
ReplyDeleteAs I mentioned before, this is the best MOC I've ever built. Hats off to your "Genius" mind!
Thank-you for your suggestions, I'm working on it today.
Looking forward to any more 'complex' builds that you publish instructions for.
just bought the instructions. congratulations on reaching the 10000 votes needed. i cant see how lego can possibly refine your model other than to add a roof, winch, or complimentary trailer or make it look like something out of tomb raider. There is no way i have all the parts required but it is important to me to have the original set of instructions and not legos interpretation.
ReplyDeleteben
hi sheepo
ReplyDeletebought these instructions the second day after their release and still have not even completed the front axel but made a start on the chassis today. I did not know how long this build would take me and how frustrating it is when I only get £30 a month
thanks anyway looking forward to completing the model
bet it'll take until xmas
Sheepo,
ReplyDeleteI have finally finished the 110.
It has been a great build and been well worth it.
I did have to revert to the silicon spray to reduce friction a bit.
The cable layout had to be changed a little as well due to having not quiet enough length on one of the motor cables.
Like a few others, I have found the model works perfectly (or as expected for something so complicated) without the body fitted.
When the body is attached I believe a combination of the extra weight and pressure caused by the body pushing the motor cables onto the top of the gear box cause the car to malfunction a bit.
What I would like to say is 'Job well done' it was a fantastic model to build and in my mind the one that other models will be compared against for complexity.
Look forward to building another of your models.
Regards,
Jamie
Worths every cent, thank you very much, waiting for the instructions, Keep up, very good job man. Respect Szily
ReplyDeleteI just bought the instruction online and am planning to build one soon. However, this could be one Lego set i don't wanna disasemble except the motors ... if taking just the motors out (& put back in later) is easy without the need to take the whole chassis apart (so that the expensive motors can be used on other Lego set) ... is it possible?
ReplyDeleteYes, it is very easy remove the motors keeping the rest of the car intact.
ReplyDeleteI think this is my next projekt (Defender), if i have finished Jurgens Ultimate 42009.
ReplyDelete20€ is a fair price!!! I know how many work is inside the manual............
Fantastic model Sheepo - just finished building it yesterday. Looking forward to buying the instructions for the next one (and the one after that)! Thanks again for producing this wonderful model and instructions.
ReplyDeletePayment done and now i have to wait............. ;) I think it should take some weeks to collect all the parts....... awesome car the Defender!
ReplyDeleteHi, do you have a parts list for the chassis on its own? I would like to try and build this, as I have a body that I think I would be able to fit on. Many thanks.
ReplyDeleteHi, I don't have it. Only for the complete model.
ReplyDeleteThat's ok, but thanks anyway!
ReplyDeleteHi there, may i ask where can i find the list of all parts of Land rover
ReplyDeletemany thanks
It is in this entrace... you should read it again ;)
ReplyDeletedont know how to add parts to wanted list
ReplyDelete1: Bricklink->My wanted list-> Upload
ReplyDelete2: Open the TXT file and copy all the content
3: And paste the contant in the boxtext in upload page
how much cost your jeep defender 110 ?
ReplyDeleteI want buy it
You can't buy the complete kit to built it. you must buy the instructions here, and the parts in other stores, like bricklink.com
ReplyDeletePayment done! I can hardly wait to see complete instructions:-)
ReplyDeleteI would like to know too is there a way to build the Defender without Power Funktions?
Very nice, very good Job, sheepo!
How much did all the parts cost too buy and were do you get them all from?
ReplyDeletehey, sheepo,
ReplyDeletei have paid, waiting instructions.
thanks...
Gr Eric
I have both the instructions but I would like to build it with a body in a different color. Is there any way to get a part list for the body only?
ReplyDeleteThanks
I don't have part list for the different parts of the car, only for the whole car. sorry.
ReplyDeletePayment done. This will make an excellent birthday present. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHey Sheepo. I love this model. I have buying parts and building it off and on for 7 months. I finally completed it tonight. Steering worked, transfer case, brakes, and high/lo work. My problem is with the gas/gears. I partial took it down and noticed that the gears weren't shifting. Seems like the red sliders weren't moving right. I took apart the drive train to completely rebuild it. Should I do the same with the chassis? Any advice would help!
ReplyDeleteFollow the tips writen just above to the By Now button.
ReplyDeletethanks. It's shifting better. It grinds when it's in higher gears and seems to go very slow.
ReplyDeleteThe clutch doesn't seem to have that fast pop like yours does and like i said, very slow compared to yours. ANy advice on that? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteTry removing one rubber of the two near to the speed change motor
ReplyDeleteHi Sheepo, finished the model and it's amazing! Many thanks
ReplyDeletefor making the instructions public!!!
Already bought instructions for your Mustang and tried to
figure out the different gearbox mechanism there. Would you
say that the gear box there is more reliable than the
one used here in the defender?
Yes, the new one is much more reliable than the defender ones, and it doesn't need adjust the rubbers.
ReplyDeleteHi Sheepo,
ReplyDeletewhat is the approx price of all the parts to build this marvelous 4 wheel truck ?
thanks
le varan
Buenas Sheepo!
boby9254
i have a little problem with the cable of the steering motor. i must put it straight over the gear box, so it covers the gear numbers. any tipps?
ReplyDeleteThere is a little mistake in the instructions IR receivers order:
ReplyDelete-Behind the driver(in the right of the car) receiver in channel #2 with its wires. Range gearbox and 2dw/4wd selector.
-In the center, receiver #1, Drive and brakes (it is well placed in the instructions)
-In the left receiver #3, Main gearbox and steering
Thank's Sheepo for your fast answer. Now the cables fit well. My Landrover is not as fast as yours ... perhops a gearbox prob or the batteries. Will LEgo accu 8878 give more power?
ReplyDeleteThe AA battery box with new alkaline batteries has more power than a 8878 battery.
ReplyDeleteHi Sheepo,
ReplyDeleteI am from America and I don't have any euros. :( Would there still be a way for me to get the instructions? This is the best MOC I've ever seen and I would really like to build it!
Youonly can pay with paypal, and paypal made the exchange automaticaly from your money yo euros.
ReplyDeletePayment done! Fantastic model!
ReplyDeleteBest regards Michele/Italy :-)
This payment is not really dangerous
ReplyDeletePayment done, still waiting for instructions
ReplyDeleteHi Sheepo, your defender is awesome. I had so much fun building it, the only problem is that the defender is not able to drive uphill. Any tips or is it not construed for driving uphill. Would the gearbox of your Mustang solve the problem? Ernst from Austria
ReplyDeleteDo you think you can add a winch to this model
ReplyDeleteIam a big fan of land drovers and this model is amazing just some thing else have you ever thought of making a land drover 6✖️6
ReplyDeleteAbout the winch, I think no, there is no space inside the LR to place another motor. And about the 6x6 no.
ReplyDeleteHi, looks awesome, bricklink, i may be getting it wrong but i have to select every part from sellers? or is there a bulk educated method?. have you looked at Series One landrover shape ?, The winch comment, it has to be done, I will take a look ;-) Thanks for your work
ReplyDeleteWould a v8 engine type fit between the motors?
ReplyDeleteIn bricklink just upload the part list (.txt file)m then you must select the parts from sellers. i know it is a stupid but there are not other way to do it.
ReplyDeleteLR Series I is in my mind, but to do it well ut must be green, and there are just a few technic green parts.
And yes, a V8 engine fits perfectly between the motors.
Hey Sheepo thank you so much for this instruction. I am just wondering, I see some alternative bodywork for the defender 110 in your instruction shop. Are they interchangeable with the body work in this defender? Or do I have to figure a way out to make the compatible?
ReplyDeleteHi, both Land-Rovers are complitely different, they in different scales, it is no possible modify one of them to fit in the other one.
ReplyDeleteHi Sheepo, downloaded the instruction and parts list for Bricklink. Now I tried to upload the parts list to Bricklink but for both the bsx file as well as the xml content I get an error stating some component can not be found in the Bricklink Catalog. Any idea how to solve it?
ReplyDeleteHi Sheepo,
ReplyDeleteI did some testing and for some reason Bricklink upload does not like:

ReplyDeleteGreat work! Any idea for a center and rear differential with locking on this car?
ReplyDeleteAhoj, funguje ešte tento web?
ReplyDeleteYes, but I have no time to create new models :(
ReplyDelete
