New MPS elements

About a year ago I introduced the Modular Platform System(MPS) to help people to built its own supercars with advanced suspensions system easily.

You can find all published information about it here: MPS

Now, 13 months after the last update of it, I want to add some new elements to the MPS(axles and frames)

In this moment is when I need your opinion and ideas for new MPS elements.

Obviously I will not made all elements to tell me, but I will study all of them, and I will built all of it which could be interesting for me.

Please leave a comment in this post with your ideas ;)

I will not rebuild the old axles with little modfications, like wider or narrower... this is your work as user of it ;)
Try with new types of axles, or with more advanced features, for example: front live axle, "buggy" type rear axle or double beam chassis

I am waiting for your ideas!

Interesting ideas:

Front axles

- Multi-link
- F1 type (EB)
- Sliding pillar

Chassis

- Cage type (EB)

Rear Axles

- Multi-link ->DONE
- F1 (EB)
- Leaf spring solid axle -> DONE
- Torsion-beam (semi-independent) -> DONE
- Chapman strunts
- DeDion live axle

Is a front and rear multilink suspension system possible?

Rear semi elliptic Leaf spring suspension??

Zachary Cross said...

How about a "Torsion beam rear suspension" no drive or steering, just a semi independent suspension, as seen on a lot of front wheel drive cars.

The three ideas are really good!!, they have been added to the building list ;)

suspension systems with the new hubs of the 42000

Que te parece un sistema de suspension como los que usa el set de lego " UNIMOG"

Anonymous said...

Sorry, same anonymous:

A front, steered, live axle, with and without drive?

Anonymous said...

And are struts possible?

Sheepo said...

One by one...

Tuur: I don't have that parts yet...

Anonymous 1: Este sistema esta pensado para hacer supercars, hacer unos ejes tipo portal como los del unimog no pega ni con cola en el MPS...

Anonymous 2: They are an option, but I can't find a utility in a supercar...

Anonimous 3: If you look in the main MPS post, you will can find some strut axles...

What about a front axle with caster, camber, hackermann, kingpin inclination, brakes and drive? Do you think you can build one? I've been trying to make it with the less pieces possible, but it's very hard to get all the geometry when you put there the brakes.

Sheepo said...

I built one like this some months ago, but the problems is that the minimum width is 28 studs... and the MPS standar is 25.

Technic Man said...

And if you build it without the brakes? Does it still has that problem?

Sheepo said...

Without brakes the minimum is 25, this is the reason why I don't build MPS axles with brakes...

Technic Man said...

OK!
I'm not sure but have you already build one with the characteristis I'm saying? (of course it is without brakes)

Sheepo said...

Actually not... some of them has four of the five specs, but none of them has the five... for example look the F.BD.1

tuur said...

what does the (EB) behind the ideas mean??

Sheepo said...

Ideas added in EuroBricks forum.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, I would say what Technic man said. I have downloaded some things of Nicjasno (YT) for my Unimog and it works really much better. There are some nice ideas that come close, but in real life it is not done like that.
And maybe a driven rear-axle that can be extended with one extra, so this fram is not only for 4-wheeled cars, but also for trucks for example.
Other than that, haven't build all of them and I really like the ones I already made. Thanks for offering this platform!

a cage or tub chassis would be amazing

What about a sliding pillar front suspension or a Chapman strut front suspension?

Sheepo said...

Sliding pilar added to the list, but I don't know the chapman strunt suspension... can you show me it?

Anonymous said...

For info on chapman struts, go to:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chapman_strut

Anonymous said...

Sorry, I meant chapman strut rear suspension.

Sheepo said...

Ok, thanks, it is like a McPherson suspension but modified to be used in rear axles. Added to the list too.

Anonymous said...

Thanks. BTW, i'm technyk32 on brickshelf and mocpages, and technyk32231 on eurobricks. It'll be interesting to see how it is possible to make a sturdy Chapman strut out of lego, since the half shafts are the lower control arms, so that has to be one strong driveshaft.

Is there a way to download individual MPS modules? I know you can download all of them at once, but more have been added since I downloaded that, and I don't want 2 copies of the same files. Could you put a download link next to each module in the list, so that you can download individual modules?

Where are these topics on Eurobricks? I can't seem to find them anywhere...
technyk32

Anonymous said...

Sorry for not saying so, but all of the anonymous posts from May 4 to May 7 are me, technyk32.

Anonymous said...

What about an unequal length double wishbone front suspension or an independent front suspension with transverse leaf springs? (Yes, it really does exist)
technyk32

Anonymous said...

What about having a set with no differentials and easier pieces?

Sheepo said...

If you want an axle without differential you only need remove it... and if you don't have enought parts means you need more Lego stuff hahaha

Anonymous said...

Can you make instructions from your peterbild ?

Anonymous said...

How about developping a new front suspension, like the RevoKnuckle of Ford or the HiPer strut of GM, where the wheels steer indepentently of the shock absorbers?

Anonymous said...

What about an i-beam or twin traction beam front suspension? technyk32

Anonymous said...

How about proposing us different types of gearboxes
for your chassis as well ? Frank

Anonymous said...

How about Watt linkages or fully pneumatic suspensions ?? Same Frank

Anonymous said...

If you're looking for new ideas on frames , look at wikipedia.

Hope this will help you, Frank

Anonymous said...

Can you make more chassis types??

Anonymous said...

Is there any way you can introduce braking systems into the platform? Like disk brakes and drum brakes?

Sheepo said...

In this scale (1:10) in 25 studs wide is not possible add brakes.

Unknown said...

Hi, Sheepo.
I want to build an mps chassis, with the following codes:
F.AD.1+CA.1+R.ED.1.3
I am planning to buy one, or maybe two sets to build it. Which sets do you think I should buy???
Thanks, Frank

Sheepo said...

Probably the best set for that is the 8070.

Unknown said...

Any other sets you would recommend??? Because I've already got the 8070..
Thanks, Frank

Unknown said...

And also my technic collection is pretty small..

Anonymous said...

can you release DeDion live axle what you use caterham seven

Wishmaster said...

Sheepo, can you update your axles for 4x4?
and maybe something like baja cars.
high clearance and independent suspension?

Anonymous said...

Are you still making axles for the mps?

Sheepo said...

No, I will not built more MPS axles, because I have hange the scale of my cars to 1:10.

Anonymous said...

can i have the instruction of the mps in pdf
